A line from the greatest blog ever: (http://confessionsofanatheist.blogspot.com/)
''Unfortunately, and with deep regret, I can’t say that Fidel Castro finally died''
These are words from a living democrat, or idiot?

Of course Andre is entitled to his opinion about Fidel Castro and the Cuban revolution but I find that to wish the death of a person no matter who that person is, is really regrettable.

More regrettable than that, is to hear this from a person that boasts about freedom and democracy.

Unlike Fidel Castro, I can only wish; I can't and would not go out there and kill individuals for their belief.

People who advocate freedom and democracy aren't perfect - democracy itself isn't perfect - so how a comment I said should reflect what ideals I hold is beyond me.

It's a case of "the views of the writer do not necessarily reflect those of the institution".

To my knowledge, Fidel Castro has never condemned any person to death just because that individual had different views!

I believe that it is a gross mistake to talk about issues such as democracy and freedom in a vacuum, without taking a good look at the reality in which we all live. There are many politicians out there who get expert speech writers to put some breathtaking expressions together, but we should all be wise enough to go beyond the rhetoric and see what really happens behind closed doors and on a day-to-day basis. I have already written a great deal about this matter in one of my most recent posts (Democracy and Human Rights: A Class Perspective) and I will, therefore, abstain from adding anything else.

Glenn, keep up the good posts! :)

Yes he did - particularly in the early 60's. And you can't deny that there are hundreds in prison due to their beliefs...
